HDMI Port Repair in Broken Arrow, OK

$125, soldered in house under a microscope, never sent away

A console that shows no picture, or one that only works when the cable is held at an angle, almost always has a damaged HDMI port, not a dead console. The port is soldered straight to the mainboard. Most shops send this job out.

Symptoms of a failed HDMI port

Four of the five symptoms below come from the port. The fifth comes from the board.

No picture at all

The console powers on, the fan spins, the light comes on, and the television reports no signal. Changing cables and inputs first is worth doing, and when nothing changes the port is the usual cause.

Picture only at a certain angle

Lifting or twisting the cable bringing the image back means the internal pins have lost contact with the board. Keep using it and the flexing tears the pads underneath.

Flickering, snow, or dropouts

Intermittent signal, static across the picture, or an image that cuts out mid-game comes from bent or bridged pins inside the socket.

Visible damage in the socket

A cable forced in at an angle, or a console knocked over while plugged in, bends the pins or cracks the plastic tongue. Shine a light in before assuming the console is finished.

Faults that are not the port

A console that will not power on, one that shuts down immediately, or one with picture but no sound is a different fault. The free diagnostic tells us which before you commit.

A torn HDMI port gets a new one soldered on, and the console keeps its drive and its games.

How the repair is done

This is component-level work, so the equipment and the hand doing it decide the result.

1

Diagnosis first

The port goes under the microscope and the board gets tested before anything is removed. A damaged port and a damaged output circuit look identical from outside and cost very different amounts.

2

The old port comes off with hot air

Controlled hot air at the temperature the board tolerates lifts the port. Too much heat lifts neighboring components and warps the board, which is the damage we see on consoles that went somewhere else first.

3

Pad preparation

The pads underneath are cleaned and inspected. Where a torn port or an earlier repair lifted a pad, we rebuild it. Soldering onto a lifted pad gives a connection that fails again within months.

4

New port fitted and reinforced

A premium replacement is aligned, soldered, and then reinforced so the socket takes the strain of the cable instead of the solder joints taking it.

5

Tested before it goes back

Picture at full resolution, the cable flexed deliberately to confirm the joint holds, and the console run under load.

Frequently asked questions

How much is HDMI port repair?

HDMI port replacement is $125. General diagnostics are free, and board diagnostics run $50 to $150 where the fault needs tracing past the port itself.

Is my console dead or is it the HDMI port?

A console that powers on with no picture, or one that only displays when the cable is held at an angle, almost always has a damaged HDMI port, and the console itself is usually fine.

Do you send the console away for HDMI repair?

No. The port is soldered directly to the mainboard and we replace it here under a microscope instead of shipping it out.

How long does HDMI port repair take?

Board-level diagnostics run 3 to 7 business days, and the port replacement is completed within that window.
